ABB Announces Spin-off of Robotics Division

ABB Ltd has revealed plans to spin off its robotics division into a separately listed company by the second quarter of 2026. The decision, aimed at optimizing value creation, will be proposed at the company's Annual General Meeting in 2026. Shareholders will receive shares in the new entity as a dividend in-kind, reflecting their current holdings in ABB.

The newly independent ABB Robotics will offer diverse automation solutions, addressing industry challenges like labor shortages and sustainability. The division, already a leader in its field, showed consistent performance with over 80% of its offerings being software/AI-enabled. In 2024, it contributed $2.3 billion to ABB’s revenues.

This move aligns with ABB's strategic focus on electrification and automation. Meanwhile, the Machine Automation division will integrate into the Process Automation sector, enhancing technology synergies.
