ABO Energy: Successful Tender for South African Solar Projects

ABO Energy has achieved a significant milestone with two of its solar projects in South Africa obtaining preferred bidder status. These projects, with capacities of 170 and 240 megawatts, are located in the Free State province. The projects were awarded in the Seventh Bid Window of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Programme (REIPPPP).

The successful tender involved an option agreement with the South African Independent Power Producer, Red Rocket. This development follows the August 2024 bids where four additional solar projects, totaling 890 megawatts, were awarded. Three of these projects are linked to the Red Rocket consortium.

Rob Invernizzi, General Manager of ABO Energy in South Africa, expressed satisfaction with the outcome, highlighting Red Rocket's successful bidding strategy. ABO Energy has a history of selling project rights that investors have successfully executed, including recent battery and solar projects.
