Delta and Korean Air Acquire Stake in WestJet to Expand Global Network

Delta Air Lines and Korean Air are set to bolster their partnerships with Canadian airline WestJet. The two airlines will acquire a combined 25% equity stake in WestJet for US$550 million. Delta will take a 15% stake, while Korean Air will acquire 10%, buying shares from Onex Partners and its affiliates.

This investment strategy aims to enhance connectivity across North America, Europe, and Asia. The acquisition reflects a long-term collaborative vision to streamline travel networks and improve customer benefits.

Delta plans to transfer a portion of its stake to Air France-KLM, expecting further integration with its longstanding partner. The transaction is subject to regulatory endorsements.
