Air Liquide Invests Over $350M to Boost Steel Industry in Louisiana
Air Liquide announced a long-term agreement to supply essential gases to HYUNDAI-POSCO Louisiana LLC's new low-carbon steel facility. This venture marks Air Liquide's first major collaboration with HYUNDAI-POSCO in the U.S., reflecting a commitment to support industrial decarbonization efforts.
In support of this partnership, Air Liquide will invest more than $350 million to expand its production capabilities. This includes an additional Air Separation Unit in St. James Parish and enhanced network infrastructures along the Mississippi River. Such investments will strengthen Air Liquide’s regional presence and industrial influence.
The new facility aims to start supply in 2028, embracing scalable and sustainable technologies for low-carbon manufacturing. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry highlighted the investment as a sign of Louisiana's business-friendly environment.
