Air Liquide Unveils Innovative Hydrogen Technology

Air Liquide has launched the world's first ammonia cracking pilot unit at an industrial scale, located at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, Belgium. This facility, with a capacity to convert 30 tons of ammonia into hydrogen per day, marks a significant advancement in low-carbon supply chain technologies. By cracking ammonia, a promising hydrogen carrier, the company addresses the challenge of transporting hydrogen over long distances, facilitating the global hydrogen economy.

This pioneering technology enhances access to low-carbon hydrogen and supports decarbonization in industries and mobility. The project features proprietary advancements in process safety, material testing, and advanced catalysis for ammonia cracking. The success of this pilot plant is backed by the Flemish Government and showcases Air Liquide's capability to scale innovative technologies from research to industrial application.
