Amrize and Meta Collaborate on AI-Optimized Concrete for Data Center

Amrize Ltd and Meta have announced a partnership for developing an AI-optimized concrete mix for Meta’s data center in Rosemount, Minnesota. This innovative solution aims to meet Meta's performance, speed, and sustainability targets by providing high strength, maintaining set-time, and reducing carbon load. The project utilizes Amrize's expertise and Meta's AI models, developed in collaboration with the University of Illinois.

The partnership highlights the increasing demand for data centers driven by AI and the digital economy. Amrize and industry leaders like Mortenson aim to accelerate technological advancements in building materials through AI-optimized concrete mixes. This project is expected to significantly reduce the concrete's carbon footprint by 35%.

The AI-driven mix design enables efficient optimization of concrete for performance, cost, and environmental impact. As highlighted by Professor Nishant Garg, AI can forecast critical properties like strength gain over time, facilitating future innovations in construction materials.
