Bank of Scotland Reports Robust H1 2026 Financial Results
Bank of Scotland plc, part of the Lloyds Banking Group, has reported a significant increase in profit for the first half of 2026. The pre-tax profit rose to £1,127 million from £680 million a year earlier, driven by higher total income and reduced operating expenses. Profit after tax was £828 million, up from £524 million.
Total income increased by 20%, reaching £3,158 million. This was primarily due to a rise in net interest income, which increased to £2,810 million. However, the Bank faced a higher impairment charge at £251 million, reflecting economic uncertainties stemming from geopolitical tensions.
Total assets grew to £354,511 million by mid-2026, with notable increases in loans and advances, particularly in UK mortgages. The Bank's capital ratios improved, with the CET1 capital ratio rising to 14.1% from 13.5% at the end of 2025. Despite these gains, challenges such as economic crime risk and market volatility continue to pose potential risks.
