CARBIOS and Wankai Join Forces for Biorecycling in Asia
On December 2, 2025, CARBIOS and Wankai New Materials formalized a strategic partnership to develop PET biorecycling in Asia. This project will result in the construction of a plant in China with a processing capacity of 50,000 tons of PET waste. CARBIOS will hold 30% of this joint venture, while Wankai will own 70%.
The €115 million construction project will begin in early 2026 in Haining, Zhejiang, leveraging Wankai's existing infrastructure to reduce costs. CARBIOS and Wankai plan to operate several biorecycling plants in Asia in the long term.
To strengthen their partnership, Wankai will invest in CARBIOS and could join its board of directors, subject to approval from the Chinese authorities.
