Carrefour Engages in Exclusive Talks to Sell Italian Operations

Carrefour announced it is in exclusive negotiations with NewPrinces Group to sell its operations in Italy. This strategic move follows financial results which highlight persistent challenges in this market. During the first half of 2025, Carrefour Italy's net sales, including fuel, reached 1,771 million euros, compared to 1,839 million euros in the first half of 2024. The full-year net sales for 2024 amounted to 3,739 million euros.

Despite stable recurring operating income at negative 40 million euros in the first halves of both 2024 and 2025, the net income or loss for the first half of 2025 stood at negative 81 million euros, an improvement from the 119 million euro loss in the same period the previous year. Capital expenditures remained steady at negative 17 million euros in the first half of both years.

Moreover, Carrefour Italy faced lease liabilities of 329 million euros in the first half of 2025. Employee benefits were 48 million euros during the period. The net free cash flow for the first half of 2025 was a negative 165 million euros, showing a slight improvement from 195 million euros in the prior year's first half.
