Charities Struggle to Meet Escalating Demands, CAF Reports

New research by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) highlights a growing concern for charities worldwide. According to the report "World Giving Report: Charity Insights," over two-thirds of charities (67%) have reported increased demand for their services, while nearly half (47%) are struggling to cope. The issue is particularly acute in lower-income countries.

The study, which surveyed over 5,000 charity leaders in 33 countries, indicates that financial sustainability remains a critical challenge for 61% of organizations. In response, 37% have diversified their income, but many have resorted to dipping into reserves or reducing staff.

Only 37% of charities feel prepared for financial and operational success in the coming years. Larger charities seem more optimistic compared to those providing essential services. Mark Greer of CAF emphasized the need for flexible funding and long-term resilience strategies.
