COBCO and Umicore enter into partnership in EV battery materials

COBCO, a joint venture between AL MADA and CNGR Advanced Materials, has announced a long-term strategic partnership with Umicore. The agreement covers the supply of precursor cathode active materials (pCAMs) for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. These materials will be produced at COBCO's new plant in Jorf Lasfar, Morocco, and will feed into Umicore's production lines.

This partnership aims to strengthen a sustainable, low-carbon battery value chain in EMEA. COBCO's factory complies with strict environmental standards, using renewable energy to minimize its carbon footprint.

COBCO aims to become a key supplier of battery materials with a production capacity equivalent to 70 GWh, sufficient for more than one million EVs per year.
