Continental's Strategic Shift: ContiTech's Path to Independence
Continental AG has announced a strategic decision to make ContiTech an independent entity, focusing on material solutions with a strong industrial orientation. The transaction's form and timetable are to be determined. Meanwhile, Continental will sharpen its global focus on its tire business.
The company's transition includes changes in their Executive Board, with Ulrike Hintze stepping in as director of Labor Relations and Executive Board member for HR from July 1, 2025. Setzer will assume responsibilities for Sustainability.
The vision is to create three robust, independent sectors—Tires, ContiTech, and Automotive—each set to unlock its growth potential. The Automotive sector already boasts strong market positions in innovative technologies, while the Tires sector explores sustainability and digitalization trends. ContiTech recorded sales of €6.4 billion in 2024 and focuses on industrial solutions.
