Bystronic Faces Challenging Economic Conditions in 2024

Bystronic AG experienced a turbulent 2024, marked by economic uncertainties and internal challenges. A 21% drop in order intake and a 30% decline in net sales were recorded, reflecting the tough market conditions and cautious customer sentiment. The company implemented restructuring measures to mitigate these challenges, incurring one-time costs of CHF 37 million, which contributed to a negative EBIT of CHF 47 million.

Despite cost savings efforts, operating results remained negative, with a net loss of CHF 68 million. In response, Bystronic introduced a comprehensive action plan aimed at enhancing long-term profitability and strengthening its market position. The company restructured its organizational setup, resulting in annual savings of over CHF 60 million and 600 job reductions.

The outlook for 2025 remains cautious, with expectations of a challenging first half. However, Bystronic anticipates improved market share and sales in the latter part of the year, with the aim of achieving an EBIT margin of 5-7% in the future.
