DATAGROUP to Manage IT Operations for Education Funding in North Rhine-Westphalia

Pliezhausen, January 21, 2026 – DATAGROUP is set to operate the BAföG and AFBG funding procedures for North Rhine-Westphalia from mid-2026. The contract, valued in the double-digit million range, spans five years and is a significant step in digitalizing education administration in the region.

The IT provider will oversee the BAFSYS2 specialist procedures, supporting the processing of applications under the Federal Training Assistance Act and Upgrading Training Assistance Act. Preparation began in August 2025, involving data migration and system setup based on DATAGROUP's CORBOX service portfolio.

Approximately 1,000 caseworkers will be trained, with the system digitizing workflows like application submissions and case handling. This enhances efficiency and standardization in administrative processes. DATAGROUP's BAFSYS platform already aids over half of Germany's BAföG applications, reinforcing its position as a reliable IT partner for public sectors.
