ENGIE Achieves 10 GW Storage Milestone with European BESS Expansion
ENGIE has surpassed 10 GW of global storage capacity, bolstered by a summer surge in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across Europe. In July and August, the company added 1.1 GW/3.3 GWh in seven European countries, pushing its total storage portfolio to 10.7 GW, including ongoing projects.
This milestone supports ENGIE's goal to achieve 95 GW of renewable and storage capacity by 2030. The newly acquired projects in Poland and ongoing investments in Romania highlight ENGIE's strategic expansion in Central Europe. In Poland, ENGIE's portfolio includes a significant 758 MW/2,156 MWh, with major assets under development.
Beyond Central Europe, ENGIE has extended its reach across Spain, Belgium, Portugal, and the UK. New projects like the BESS in Spain and the Netherlands aim to balance renewable energy integration in power systems.
