Start-up of the First Natural Hydrogen Well by FDE
La Française de l'Énergie (FDE) has announced the start of drilling for the PTH-2 deep well, dedicated to natural hydrogen in the Moselle region. This innovative project is part of the REGALOR II program, supported by the University of Lorraine and the CNRS, among others. This well targets subsurface formations to measure the hydrogen concentration at a depth of 3,000 meters. The goal is to validate the formation and quantity of this clean energy source.
The REGALOR II program has received €8.8 million in funding from the Grand Est Region and the European Union. This initiative is crucial for the development of low-carbon energy. FDE aims to accelerate decarbonization and reindustrialization in the Grand Est region, with clear targets for 2030.
