Galimedix Introduces Innovative Functional Assessment in Geographic Atrophy Trial
Galimedix Therapeutics has unveiled baseline data from its Phase 2 eDREAM trial at EURETINA 2026. Their findings highlight patient-tailored microperimetry (MP) as a highly sensitive tool for assessing retinal function in geographic atrophy (GA), a severe form of dry age-related macular degeneration.
MP has demonstrated strong repeatability and may surpass current functional measurements in GA. When combined with optical coherence tomography (OCT), MP can predict areas of compromised vision, offering a precise correlation between retinal structure and functional loss.
The study supports the adoption of MP in future GA trials, emphasizing its potential to refine our understanding of disease progression and contribute significantly to the development of treatments like GAL-101.
