Stream Hatchet Reports Continued Growth in Live Streaming Markets
In 2025 Q2, live streaming viewership reached 9.1 billion hours, marking a 5% year-over-year increase. This period reflects the highest recorded quarterly level since 2021, signaling robust growth in media consumption. Stream Hatchet, a data analytics provider within GameSquare Holdings, released these findings in their latest report.
YouTube Gaming showed significant gains, hitting its highest quarterly viewership ever at 2.2 billion hours. Meanwhile, Twitch's market share decreased by 4.6% to 54%, while Kick's share increased by 5.5% to almost 11%. Despite a 37% drop in the number of esports tournaments compared to the previous year, viewership rose by 6%, indicating a shift towards creator-driven content.
GameSquare's CEO, Justin Kenna, emphasized the shift towards interactive content, underscoring the ongoing transformation in audience preferences.
