HOPIUM: Recent developments and future prospects
On April 22, 2025, Hopium presented its progress and outlook following the approval of its continuation plan by the Paris Economic Activities Court. Having reduced its liabilities from €35 million to €9 million, the company strengthened its financial position thanks to €12.5 million in financing from Atlas Special Opportunities. Hopium is focusing on niche markets, such as maritime, to improve its fuel cell.
R&D efforts are focused on innovation and performance improvements, including an S++ plate for testing the battery. With 16 patents filed, Hopium plans to marineize a 200 kW system by the end of 2025. The goal is to offer an alternative to diesel for heavy-duty transport by 2028-2030. The first land-based tests for road applications, including household waste collection trucks, are planned for 2025.
