Hyundai Mobis Embraces Open Source to Lead Mobility Software Development

Hyundai Mobis has taken a significant step in the mobility software sector by adopting an open-source approach, aiming to set industry standards. This strategic move involves joining the SDV Working Group under the Eclipse Foundation, a prominent nonprofit open-source association. The aim is to develop a standardized software platform for software-defined vehicles (SDVs).

The S-Core Project, launched in 2024, focuses on standardizing fundamental technologies such as middleware. It stands out as the first open-source project meeting the automotive industry's ASIL-B safety standard. Hyundai Mobis unveils a "container solution" within this framework, enhancing software efficiency while ensuring integrity against external threats.

By publicly sharing its code, Hyundai Mobis seeks to enhance its technological leadership and expand into the Asian market. This initiative highlights the transition from hardware to software, promising added value and broader global applicability.
