IBU-tec Develops Industrial Scale Dry Coating Process
IBU-tec advanced materials AG has made significant progress in the development of a dry coating process for battery cell production using its IBUvolt® LFP400 material. This development is part of the "ProLiT" project, led by the iPAT at TU Braunschweig, with partners including Daikin Chemical and Coperion. The project resulted in a scalable process for dry coating battery electrodes, suitable for production environments up to 10 GWh.
The newly developed process offers advantages over traditional wet coating methods by significantly reducing energy consumption and avoiding the use of harmful solvents. Since 2022, IBU-tec has been exploring dry coating with partners, enhancing their innovative capabilities in battery material development.
IBU-tec CEO, Jörg Leinenbach, emphasizes the company's commitment to advancing battery material technologies from trial stages to industrial scale as part of a diversified business model.
