Jaguar Health Releases Positive Preliminary Results from SBS-IF Study
Jaguar Health, Inc., through its subsidiary Napo Pharmaceuticals, presented encouraging preliminary results at the American College of Gastroenterology Annual Meeting for its open-label study on Crofelemer, targeting adult patients with Type 1 Short Bowel Syndrome with Intestinal Failure (SBS-IF). The ongoing study involves administering Crofelemer to stabilize ostomy output in patients receiving parenteral support.
Participants with less than 200 cm of remaining small bowel showed notable outcomes after 12 weeks of treatment with liquid Crofelemer. Two subjects experienced a 5% reduction in ostomy volume, while improved urinary output was observed in three participants, maintained four weeks post-treatment. No significant adverse events were reported.
This study aligns with Napo's focus on developing therapies for SBS-IF and pediatric conditions, including microvillus inclusion disease. Future milestones include a Phase 2 trial for adult patients and a New Drug Application filing in 2027.
