Julius Meinl Expands Generations Programme to India

Julius Meinl, a premium coffee roaster from Vienna, has initiated the "Empowering Youth in Coffee Production" project in India. In collaboration with FAIRTRADE Austria, the program targets Kerala and Karnataka, aiming to support young coffee producers through advanced training and workshops. This extension of Julius Meinl's Generations Programme, operational from 2025 to 2028, builds on its previous successes in Colombia and Uganda.

The project involves partnerships with the Central Coffee Research Institute and focuses on equipping smallholder farming families, particularly young leaders and women, with skills in climate adaptation, biodiversity, and marketing. Farmers will also be trained to integrate digital tools into their practices and diversify income sources.

The initiative emphasizes leadership development and the distribution of resilient coffee seedlings to combat climate change effects. This programme is part of Julius Meinl’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in coffee production.
