First High-Performance Cells for LION NMC+ Battery Pack En Route to Germany
LION E-Mobility AG has announced a significant development from its subsidiary, LION Smart Production GmbH. The first batch of mass-produced NMC+ cells are being sent from SVOLT’s plant in Suining, China, to Germany, expected to arrive in less than a month. The impressive order volume for the new NMC+ battery packs is close to reaching the planned production capacity for 2026, with strong prospects for 2027.
The NMC+ battery prototypes underwent extensive testing and qualification by current customers, leading to firm orders. Production lines are being upgraded, supported by Thyssenkrupp, to accommodate the new battery packs, with completion expected by June.
The demand spans various sectors, notably buses, trucks, and increasingly, the defense industry, highlighting the robustness and power density of LION's NMC+ cells for critical applications.
