Lonza Expands US Manufacturing with New Facility in Oregon

Lonza Group AG, a leading contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), announced the development of a large-scale commercial spray-drying facility in Bend, Oregon. This new facility aims to bolster Lonza's position as a premier provider of commercial-scale spray-drying services in the United States, further solidifying the Bend site as a hub for particle engineering and bioavailability enhancement.

Scheduled for completion in 2029, the facility will accommodate two advanced PSD-4 spray-drying units, supporting the rising demand in the drug development industry. This project will create over 80 jobs, reinforcing Lonza's manufacturing capabilities in the US. The expansion responds to the increasing complexity of pharmaceutical compounds, underscoring Lonza's commitment to innovation and regional supply chain resilience.

The facility will be equipped with modern infrastructure for solvent handling and will incorporate energy-efficient and emission control technologies. With this investment, Lonza continues its strategic growth, enabling comprehensive end-to-end solutions for small molecules and biologics, including mRNA.
