Leclerc and Grand Frais to Replace Géant Casino in Brest
The French Competition Authority has approved Leclerc's takeover of the Géant Casino hypermarket at Mercialys shopping center in Brest. Scheduled to open by the end of 2025, Leclerc will introduce an optimized retail surface along with two specialty stores focusing on toys and health and beauty products.
The exit of Géant Casino also permits the introduction of the first Grand Frais store in the Brest area by 2026. This move enhances Mercialys’ diversification into the food retail sector and is expected to strengthen the shopping center's market position.
This strategic repositioning demonstrates Mercialys' ability to convert vacated spaces into growth opportunities, enhancing long-term value for its real estate portfolio. The new additions are anticipated to boost consumer interest and attract future retail partners.
