Neoen Secures Contracts for Major Solar Developments in Ontario

Neoen, a key player in the renewable energy sector, has secured 20-year contracts from Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator for two new solar farms, totaling 318 MWp in capacity. The first, at 253 MWp, will be Ontario's largest solar farm, co-owned with the Garden River First Nation. The second, at 65 MWp, will be co-owned by Matachewan First Nation.

The projects aim to meet Ontario’s rising electricity demand, expecting to output 475 GWh annually, enough to power over 50,000 homes. Construction begins in 2028, with operations starting by 2030.

With these additions, Neoen's portfolio in Canada now includes 968 MW of solar and battery storage capacity. This expansion aligns with their strategy to foster Indigenous partnerships and support sustainable energy solutions.
