ESA Commissions OHB for Lunar Infrastructure Studies

OHB System AG, a subsidiary of OHB SE, has been selected by the European Space Agency (ESA) to conduct feasibility and preliminary design studies for OASIS, a lunar infrastructure project. This initiative represents a strategic step towards establishing a sustainable infrastructure for scientific research and technological advancements on the Moon.

OASIS is conceptualized as a shared platform offering essential services like power supply, communication, and data storage. By utilizing a communal infrastructure, future lunar missions could reduce complexity, weight, and costs, allowing scientists to prioritize research objectives.

The system, potentially transported by the European lunar lander Argonaut, could integrate with Moonlight for communication. This endeavor aligns with Europe's long-term lunar exploration ambitions.
