Helsing and OHB Launch 'KIRK' for Space-Based Reconnaissance

Helsing, a top European AI defense firm, and OHB, a leading space group, have formed a joint venture, 'KIRK', to create a space-based tactical surveillance and reconnaissance system. This alliance includes partners like Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and HENSOLDT, aiming to address modern battlefield needs.

The KIRK project combines space-based surveillance with AI-enabled targeting, enhancing real-time information processing for modern weapons. The joint venture seeks to minimize latency in data-to-decision processes. Systems will be 'software-defined', allowing for adaptability to emerging threats.

Both Helsing and OHB bring complementary strengths to this project. Helsing contributes advanced AI for real-time data processing, while OHB focuses on end-to-end space system implementations. The initiative also involves SMEs and start-ups to leverage new ideas and technology.
