26-Year China-US Partnership: Grassroots Efforts Transform Desert into Forest

People's Daily has released a documentary detailing the 26-year friendship between Yin Yuzhen, a Chinese environmentalist, and Ronald Sakolsky, an American donor. This relationship began with Sakolsky's $5,000 contribution to Yin's reforestation work in the Maowusu Desert, Inner Mongolia.

The documentary captures Sakolsky's recent return to the site, showcasing the transformation from barren desert to lush forest. This change underscores China's desertification control strategies, reliant on long-term, grassroots efforts, local involvement, and scientific guidance.

This narrative exemplifies the ongoing cultural and environmental collaboration between China and the US, emphasizing the enduring strength of international grassroots partnerships.
