Rubis Expands into European Bitumen Distribution

Rubis is expanding its presence in the European bitumen market by securing an exclusive five-year renewable lease to operate the bitumen storage capacities at the ATPC terminal in Antwerp. Since January 2026, Rubis Asphalt has managed 60,000 tonnes of storage capacity for bitumen distribution, serving key infrastructure sectors. The strategically positioned terminal accommodates large vessels and operates around the clock, ensuring supply continuity for the Belgian, Dutch, French, and German markets.

The European market's steady demand and declining local production provide Rubis a chance to offer reliable and competitive supply solutions. This expansion builds on Rubis's existing operational expertise, with 2026 as a transitional year for their bitumen activities in Europe. Since 2015, Rubis has established a fully integrated bitumen logistics chain, significantly impacting the African market by distributing 650,000 tonnes of bitumen annually to support infrastructure projects.
