Sanofi Initiates Construction of Advanced Insulin Plant in Germany

Sanofi has commenced the construction of a cutting-edge insulin manufacturing facility in Frankfurt, Germany, marking a significant expansion at its BioCampus. Spanning 36,000 square meters, this new facility aims to enhance Sanofi's capacity to produce insulin, a vital medication for millions of people living with diabetes globally. This initiative reflects Sanofi's commitment to ensuring a stable insulin supply amid a growing diabetes incidence projected to reach over 800 million by 2050.

At a ceremony attended by local leaders, Sanofi's CEO Belén Garijo highlighted the investment as a strategic move to reinforce Europe's competitive edge in pharmaceuticals. The facility is expected to be fully operational by 2032, implementing advanced automation and digital technologies. This project strengthens Sanofi's global insulin network, which currently serves 15 million individuals in more than 100 countries annually.
