Amazon and Skyborn Renewables Ink Historic PPA for German Wind Farm

Amazon and Skyborn Renewables have entered into Germany's largest Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), securing 600 MW from the Gennaker offshore wind farm. Situated in the German Baltic Sea, this deal is a landmark in the region's renewable energy sector.

The agreement empowers Skyborn to proceed with the construction of Gennaker, expected to power over a million households. Located near the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the wind farm will boast 63 state-of-the-art turbines.

A significant economic impact is anticipated, with a €3 billion investment boosting the local economy and securing jobs. This development aligns with Germany's 2030 goal for 30 GW of offshore wind capacity and enhances energy security.

Amazon's initiative is part of its wider commitment to sustainability, under the Climate Pledge, aiming for net-zero carbon by 2040.
