SMT Scharf AG Reports First Half of 2026 Results
SMT Scharf AG announced its results for the first half of 2026, showing consolidated revenue at EUR 33.1 million, a decline from the previous year's EUR 50.1 million. Operating earnings (EBIT) stood at EUR 300,000, excluding one-off restructuring costs of EUR 1.5 million. These financial results reflect a challenging market environment, particularly in coal mining, where investments have been cautious.
Despite revenue declines, SMT Scharf has advanced its electromobility efforts and expanded partnerships, notably in China. Revenues in China and Poland fell, but increased in Africa due to a new battery-powered rail system order. Mining segment revenues varied, with coal mining down and mineral mining slightly up, while tunnel logistics saw a significant decrease.
CEO Longjiao Wang highlighted strategic initiatives, including LEVs development with CCTEG, and a milestone project in South Africa for battery-powered monorails. The company maintains its 2026 revenue forecast of EUR 95-115 million and EBIT of EUR 1-2 million.
