Thailand Achieves Milestone in CO₂ Reduction Through Low-Carbon Cement

Thailand has significantly reduced over 3.8 million tonnes of CO₂ since 2019, thanks to clinker substitution in its cement sector. This achievement surpasses the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) timeline, highlighting the country's progress in climate policy implementation. Key to this success is the adoption of hydraulic cement, a low-carbon alternative now widely used in construction projects across Thailand.

At the recent "TCMA at 20: The Next Chapter to Net Zero" event, the government and 34 partners were recognized for their collaboration in greenhouse gas reduction. The Minister of Industry emphasized the importance of multi-stakeholder efforts in achieving a greener industry transformation.

This initiative not only underscores Thailand's commitment to reducing emissions but also offers a scalable model for other sectors. The successful adoption of hydraulic cement is a notable step towards the country's Net Zero 2050 ambition.
