Thailand Sees $43.6 Billion Investment Surge in 1H 2026
Thailand experienced a significant increase in investment applications, reaching $43.6 billion across 1,299 projects in the first half of 2026. This 37% year-on-year rise is largely attributed to digital infrastructure and AI data center investments. Despite global economic challenges, Thailand emerged as a preferred investment hub in Southeast Asia, with the digital sector alone attracting $33 billion.
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) played a crucial role, especially from Singapore, which accounted for $33.2 billion. Other foreign contributors included the UK, China, Taiwan, and Japan. The investments were predominantly in digital technology, electronics, and renewable energy, with the Central region receiving the highest capital influx.
The projects approved by the Thailand Board of Investment aim to create over 82,000 jobs and significantly enhance the nation's export capabilities. Infrastructure developments, particularly in renewable energy, are also on the rise, supporting the demand of next-generation data centers. The initiatives align with the BOI’s goal of fostering high-value and sustainable industries.
