German Employees and Shortened Working Weeks: Survey Insights
Recent research by Stepstone and YouGov sheds light on how German employees perceive shortened working weeks around public holidays. About 25% of employees report managing their workload efficiently despite fewer working days. Additionally, 18% find they can work more focused due to reduced meetings and interruptions during these periods.
The survey highlights that public holidays do not necessarily impact productivity. Despite differing regional regulations, 27% of employees desire uniform public holidays across Germany, citing fairness and ease of collaboration across federal states. Notably, 21% value long weekends for enhancing work-life balance.
Although most team arrangements work smoothly, 16% experience tensions regarding time off planning. Those in professions like nursing and hospitality often struggle to benefit from extended weekends. This survey, involving 2,094 participants, emphasizes the need for effective work structuring and equitable public holiday policies.
