Western Investment Company Appoints Keith Lau as Chief Actuary

The Western Investment Company of Canada Limited has announced the appointment of Keith Lau as Chief Actuary. Lau has over a decade of experience in the Canadian property and casualty insurance sector. His expertise in pricing, reserving, and reporting are expected to enhance Western’s decentralized insurance platform.

Prior to joining Western, Lau held senior roles at Cover Genius and PwC, where he was instrumental in IFRS 17 implementation. At Western, he will manage actuarial operations and ensure regulatory compliance alongside the finance team.

In addition to his new role, Lau will receive 806,452 restricted share units, which will vest over five to ten years, pending TSXV approval. Western plans to purchase shares from the open market to support these units.
