Thyssenkrupp Nucera Chosen for Australian Green Iron Project

Progressive Green Solutions (PGS) has selected thyssenkrupp nucera as the preferred supplier for its 1.4 GW electrolyzer in a pioneering green iron project in Australia. This project aims to produce up to 7 million tonnes of green iron pellets annually, half of which will be converted into 2.5 million tonnes of green Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI).

The project, situated in Western Australia, will employ renewable energy to power its operations, significantly reducing CO2 emissions by up to 90% compared to traditional methods. With a scalable approach, PGS plans to expand the output to 30 million tonnes of green pellets and 10 million tonnes of HBI annually.

Thyssenkrupp nucera's modular electrolysis technology will play a key role in this transition to sustainable iron production. The project's realization depends on a final investment decision and is not expected to impact thyssenkrupp nucera's financial performance before fiscal year 2026/27.
