U-blox Enhances GNSS Timing with METAS Time Service

u-blox AG has integrated Switzerland's UTC-traceable timing infrastructure into its GNSS test lab in Thalwil. In collaboration with the Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) and Switch, this move ensures access to precise time synchronization using White Rabbit technology, enabling nanosecond accuracy. This direct infrastructure allows u-blox to rapidly validate and improve GNSS timing receivers, enhancing development workflow without external metrology reliance.

The integration supports long-term timing stability measurements and strengthens the validation of next-generation GNSS timing products. The collaboration highlights Switzerland's technology ecosystem, combining metrology expertise with GNSS infrastructure. White Rabbit, initially developed at CERN, proves crucial in achieving ultra-precise synchronization needed for advanced industrial applications.
