U-blox Launches RUBY-W2: First Wi-Fi 7 Module for Enhanced Automotive Experience

u-blox has introduced its RUBY-W2 module, marking its entry into Wi-Fi 7 technology for vehicles. Targeting OEMs, this module aims to upgrade in-car infotainment and telematics. The rising integration of Wi-Fi in these systems is highlighted by the TSR Wireless Connectivity Market Report 2024, predicting a significant increase in usage over the next five years.

Key advantages of the RUBY-W2 include higher throughput, more concurrent user support, and improved latency, thereby enhancing network availability and user experience. It is designed to enhance video, audio, and gaming experiences across multiple screens within the vehicle.

The module is powered by Qualcomm Technologies' Snapdragon Auto Connectivity Platform and features the QCA6797AQ solution. It also incorporates Bluetooth 5.4 technology for efficient audio streaming. With a form factor aligning with Qualcomm's reference design, the RUBY-W2 ensures easy adaptation across technology upgrades.
