Veolia Launches Major PFAS Treatment Facility in Delaware
Veolia has inaugurated one of the largest PFAS treatment plants in the United States, located in Wilmington, Delaware. The Stanton Water Treatment Plant is designed to provide high-quality drinking water to over 100,000 residents by removing regulated PFAS compounds. This $35 million facility aligns with the EPA’s PFAS regulations and sets a new standard for cost-effective, replicable treatment systems worldwide.
The new plant is part of Veolia's broader BeyondPFAS initiative, aiming to establish over 100 treatment sites across the U.S. This effort seeks to secure high-quality drinking water for nearly 2 million people. The plant's innovative design involves 42 vessels filled with granular activated carbon, capable of treating up to 30 million gallons of water daily.
Delaware Governor Matt Meyer and Veolia executives praised the project's swift completion and its impact on public health. This initiative represents a significant step in Veolia's mission to address micropollutants and enhance environmental security.
