VERBUND AG: Navigating Challenges for 2025 Financial Results
VERBUND AG reported its 2025 financial results, marked by resilience amid challenging conditions. The company faced below-average water supply and an extended windfall tax impacting earnings. Despite these, VERBUND's strategic focus on growth and climate protection sustained a high performance level. However, EBITDA dropped by 21.3% to €2,737.5m, and the Group result decreased by 20.6% to €1,489.4m.
Hydropower generation decreased by 24.2% due to reduced water supply, while wind and photovoltaic outputs also saw a decline. The windfall tax further affected results with €135.9m in expenses, but the electricity grid and end-customer business provided some positive contributions.
Looking ahead, VERBUND expects 2026 EBITDA between €2,000m and €2,500m, emphasizing flexible financial strategies and regulatory compliance. A proposed dividend includes a €2.00 regular and €1.15 special share dividend, pending shareholder approval.
