Waga Energy Partners with Scapigliato for RNG Production in Tuscany

Waga Energy has teamed up with Scapigliato to produce renewable natural gas (RNG) in Tuscany, Italy. The agreement was signed on April 29, 2025, for the Rosignano Marittimo landfill site. This collaboration will see Waga Energy finance, construct, and operate a purification unit employing its WAGABOX® technology to convert landfill biogas into RNG.

The WAGABOX® unit is set to begin operations in 2027, with an initial contract term of 10 years, producing 92 GWh of RNG annually. This output equates to the energy consumption of approximately 9,400 Italian households and will help reduce 15,500 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually by decreasing fossil natural gas use.

The RNG generated will feed directly into the local grid and be marketed under a Biomethane Purchase Agreement, with revenues shared between Waga Energy and Scapigliato.
