Wenchang's Space Industry Boosts Economy and Tourism

Wenchang, located in China's Hainan Province, is witnessing robust growth in both its space industry and tourism. The recent launch of a Long March-12 carrier rocket marks the 12th mission since the commercial launch site began operations, highlighting an increase in regular activities.

Wenchang's strategic location offers advantages such as proximity to the equator, improving payload efficiency, and expansive surrounding seas, enhancing safety and logistics. These factors, combined with Hainan Free Trade Port incentives like zero tariffs and low taxes, have attracted over 700 aerospace companies to the region.

The Wenchang International Aerospace City reached annual revenues of over 20 billion yuan in 2025, underpinning a fully-developed industrial chain for the aerospace sector. Tourism is also thriving, with over a million "rocket-chasers" visiting in 2025, transforming the local economy.
