Linz, 26 February 2026 – HPW Metallwerk GmbH (HPW), a manufacturer of high-performance copper wires for industrial applications, is setting another milestone in the technological advancement of its company: With the commissioning of a new UPCAST® system in April, HPW is expanding its production capacities for high-quality copper casting and rolling products, thereby sustainably strengthening its position as a reliable partner to industry.

The new system is based on the proven UPCAST® process (Upward Continuous Casting), a particularly energy-efficient and high-quality method for producing oxygen-free copper of the highest purity. This process ensures excellent surface quality and outstanding electrical and mechanical properties of the copper products manufactured.

With this investment, HPW is responding specifically to rising quality requirements in sectors such as the automotive industry and renewable energy. The new UPCAST® system enables the production of copper cross-sections with even tighter tolerances and enhanced material properties – ideal for applications where purity and performance are critical. In addition to improving quality, the new system also significantly expands production capacity and increases vertical integration.

The UPCAST® process is characterized by particularly low energy consumption and minimal material losses. By using recycled materials, the proportion of reused copper can also be significantly increased. The new system therefore supports HPW’s sustainability strategy of using resources efficiently and further reducing the ecological footprint of its production. With this investment, HPW reaffirms its clear commitment to its production site and to continuous technological innovation.
