Paragon Steel CEO Jim Stavis Shares Personal Story of Survival & Loss in Book “When Hope Is Your Only Option”

Sydney, Australia, Sydney, Australia, September 16th, 2026, FinanceWire

Paragon Steel CEO and President Jim Stavis has announced the continued national and international promotion of his memoir, “When Hope Is Your Only Option”, following the publication of a revised edition in April. The book is now available to readers through Amazon and Stavis’ personal website as he prepares to expand promotion through a speaking tour focused on overcoming adversity, resilience, and the importance of hope.

Revised Edition Expands Book’s Reach

The newly revised edition of “When Hope Is Your Only Option” brings Stavis’ story to a broader audience at a time when interest in personal resilience and overcoming hardship remains strong. The book is designed for individuals facing significant challenges, including illness, loss, grief, and major life changes.

As part of the promotional campaign, Stavis will share the message behind the book through media outreach and speaking engagements across the United States and internationally.

The initiative represents a new chapter for Stavis beyond his nearly four decades in the steel distribution industry and provides an opportunity to introduce his experiences and perspective to audiences outside the business community.

Speaking Tour to Support Book Promotion

Stavis is also preparing for a speaking tour connected to the book. The engagements will focus on the central message of “When Hope Is Your Only Option”: maintaining hope and a positive outlook while developing a practical approach to navigating difficult circumstances.

The speaking appearances will give audiences an opportunity to hear directly from Stavis about the experiences that shaped the book and the lessons he believes can help others facing adversity.

The book and speaking tour are intended to reach a national and international audience, with particular relevance to people searching for encouragement and perspective during challenging periods in their lives.

A Remarkable Story Behind the Book

While the announcement centers on the release and promotion of the revised book, Stavis’ personal experience provides the foundation for its message.

Stavis was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 17 and was told he might not live beyond 50. He recently celebrated his 71st birthday.

In 2005, Stavis underwent triple organ transplantation involving his heart, kidney, and pancreas. The procedure became a pivotal event in his life and contributed to his perspective on hope, determination, and the value of organ donation.

When a doctor at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles told him that the transplant procedure had never been attempted, Stavis responded, “Then I’ll be the first.”

His story also includes the loss of his business partner and Paragon Steel co-founder, as well as his wife of 40 years. Those experiences became part of the material and perspective presented in the memoir.

Connecting the Book to Organ Donation

A key element of the book’s broader message is the importance of organ donation. By documenting his experience as a transplant recipient, Stavis hopes to increase awareness of the impact organ donors can have while demonstrating the possibilities that can come from a second chance at life.

The book does not focus solely on Stavis’ medical history. Instead, it uses those experiences to present a message for readers dealing with their own forms of hardship.

Paragon Steel Approaches 38th Year

The book promotion comes as Paragon Steel approaches its 38th year in business. Stavis founded the Commerce, California-based steel distribution warehouse company and continues to serve as CEO and President.

The timing gives the announcement an additional milestone: while continuing to lead a long-established company, Stavis is expanding his public work through an independently published memoir and speaking appearances.

Through the book and upcoming speaking tour, Stavis aims to bring the message of “When Hope Is Your Only Option” to people beyond the steel industry and into a wider national and international audience.
