SIG outlines roadmap to accelerate profitable growth, expand margins and increase shareholder returns

  • Strong foundation for profitable growth: structural aseptic market growth, differentiated technology, innovation-led share gains, and close customer relationships position SIG well to capture attractive growth opportunities
  • Simplified organizational structure: two core reporting segments – Aseptic Carton and Bag-in-Box & Spouted Pouch – to accelerate execution, increase accountability and enhance transparency; change of reporting segments leads to non-cash impairment charge of approx. €250 million in Q4 2026
  • Focused turnaround plan for Bag-in-Box & Spouted Pouch: accelerate growth and restore profitability through portfolio optimization, operational excellence and stronger focus on aseptic applications
  • Margin expansion through operational improvements: procurement savings, productivity improvements and operating leverage to drive higher profitability
  • Updated mid-term financial targets: 3-5% organic revenue growth and adjusted EBIT margin above 18% (>20% in Aseptic Carton)
  • Dividend reinstatement planned in 2027: targeted payout ratio of 30-50% of adjusted net income

At today’s Capital Markets Day, SIG presents its roadmap to accelerate profitable growth, improve operational performance and increase shareholder returns. Building on its strong position in aseptic packaging, differentiated technology and global customer relationships, the company outlines how it intends to capture growth opportunities and strengthen profitability.

Anne Erkens, CEO, highlighted: "SIG combines resilient end-market exposure, strong competitive positions and a proven innovation track record with significant self-help opportunities. Our vision is to be the number one choice for any customer in aseptic packaging solutions. With a simplified organizational structure and clear capital allocation priorities, we are well positioned to deliver sustainable value creation over the coming years."

Built to win: be the number one choice in aseptic packaging solutions

SIG enters the next phase of its development from a position of strength, built on leading positions in aseptic packaging, a differentiated technology platform, strong innovation capabilities, a global manufacturing footprint and longstanding customer relationships. The company’s ambition is to be the number one choice in aseptic packaging solutions, delivering above-market growth, expanding profitability and strong cash generation while creating long-term value for customers and shareholders.

To deliver on this ambition, SIG is focusing on three strategic priorities:

  • exciting customers through technological and sustainability leadership and a best-in-class service offering;
  • elevating performance through productivity improvements in manufacturing and supply chain and continued procurement efforts;
  • optimizing its structure to accelerate execution and strengthen accountability.

As part of these priorities, SIG is introducing a simplified organizational structure with two larger customer-focused segments: Aseptic Carton and Bag-in-Box & Spouted Pouch. This structure will also form the basis for external segment reporting from FY2026 report onwards providing greater transparency.

SIG is implementing targeted initiatives to improve performance, including greater commercial focus, operational simplification, productivity improvements, disciplined capital allocation and a strong focus on profitable growth and shareholder returns.

In connection with the change in segment reporting, SIG expects to recognize a non-cash impairment charge in the Bag-in-Box & Spouted Pouch and Chilled Carton businesses of approximately €250 million in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Aseptic Carton: outgrowing an attractive market

Aseptic carton growth is supported by attractive long-term trends in food and beverage consumption, including growing demand for dairy and protein-based drinks, convenient on-the-go products and more sustainable packaging. Rising consumption and increasing penetration of aseptic packaging in emerging markets provide further growth opportunities. SIG expects the underlying aseptic carton market to grow by 2–3% over the medium term. Having outgrown the market in every macroeconomic cycle since 2016, SIG is confident of continuing this outperformance.

Innovation remains a key driver of SIG’s competitive position and growth ambition. The continued rollout of SIG Neo offers customers industry-leading filling speeds, flexibility and low waste, while SIG Terra addresses growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions, including aluminum-foil-free full-barrier carton structures. Platform standardization initiatives and the scaling of DigitalOne further strengthen SIG’s ability to deliver efficient, differentiated and connected packaging solutions.

Building on its technology and innovation capabilities, SIG sees opportunities to gain market share, expand into value-added food and beverage categories and capture growth in new markets and applications. Its global manufacturing and service network and long-term customer partnerships provide a strong foundation for translating these opportunities into profitable growth and value creation.

Bag-in-Box & Spouted Pouch: focused turnaround plan to unlock potential

Improving the performance of the Bag-in-Box & Spouted Pouch business is an important priority for SIG. A dedicated management team will implement a focused turnaround plan to capture growth opportunities in food service Bag-in-Box and aseptic Spouted Pouch and restore profitability.

Key measures include portfolio optimization, organizational simplification, improvements in manufacturing and supply chain efficiency, optimization of the production footprint and stronger commercial discipline. SIG will focus on differentiated aseptic system solutions and operational improvements to strengthen margins. These measures are expected to restore profitability towards historical levels, with a targeted adjusted EBIT margin of 8-10% (or pro-forma adjusted EBIT margin excluding corporate allocations of 10-12%).

Margin expansion to drive adjusted EBIT margin above 18%

In addition to the turnaround of Bag-in-Box & Spouted Pouch, SIG outlines targeted initiatives to increase profitability across the Group. These include procurement savings, manufacturing excellence, productivity improvements, operational simplification and optimization of the production footprint. Revenue growth, an improved product mix and greater operating leverage are expected to contribute further to margin expansion.

Reflecting the confidence in its growth and profitability outlook, SIG updates its mid-term financial targets. The company targets 3-5% organic revenue growth (at constant currencies) and an adjusted EBIT margin above 18%, including above 20% in Aseptic Carton. Supported by strong cash conversion and continued deleveraging, the company intends to propose a reinstatement of dividends in 2027 for the 2026 financial year, with a targeted payout ratio of 30–50% of adjusted net income.
