Vesti Launches Zyra, a Legal Identity Platform for AI Agents

DALLAS, TX, USA, October 19th, 2026, FinanceWire

Vesti, a Dallas-based legal technology company, today launched the beta of Zyra, a platform that issues legal identity to AI agents in the way a state issues identity to a company. Each Zyra identity records who an agent acts for, where it can be reached, what it is permitted to do and which accounts it may use.

AI agents now book travel, move money and operate business systems on behalf of people and companies, but the legal system has no category for them. Research firm IDC projects that 1 billion AI agents will be in use worldwide by 2029. Today, a business dealing with an AI agent usually has no standard way to verify who stands behind it.

Zyra builds on Vesti’s earlier work. Founded in 2021 by brothers Olusola Amusan, a former senior program manager at Microsoft, and Abimbola Amusan, an attorney, Vesti first built legal identity for immigrants. Zyra applies that same idea to a new kind of actor: software that makes decisions and takes action on behalf of others.

Zyra is built around five bindings that together form a verifiable agent identity. Registration gives each agent a persistent, unique identifier. A verified service endpoint proves the agent controls the address where it can be reached. Principal linkage connects the agent to the person or organization accountable for it. Scoped authority defines, in machine-readable form, what the agent is permitted to do. Asset binding ties the identity to the wallets and accounts the agent may use.

Once an agent carries a verifiable identity, a counterparty can check who stands behind it before transacting. Courts have a clear structure to follow when something goes wrong, and insurers have the information they need to assess AI agent risk rather than exclude it. When disputes arise, Zyra prepares an AI-assisted defense that licensed attorneys review and approve, with a live case timeline both sides can follow.

The launch comes as lawmakers and insurers move to address AI agent liability. On Oct. 1, Sens. Josh Hawley and Chris Murphy introduced the bipartisan AI Agent Accountability Act, which would extend federal hacking liability to AI agent operators and developers. Insurers, meanwhile, have filed 4,078 generative AI exclusions to commercial liability policies across 49 states and Washington, D.C., according to an analysis by Trades Coverage.

The Zyra beta is available now and includes a public AI agent registry, agent onboarding, an ownership-request flow and dispute intake. Zyra is designed for agent developers, enterprises deploying autonomous AI agents, and the insurers and legal professionals who need a consistent record of who is accountable for each agent.

“The registration is the onboarding,” said Olusola Amusan, co-founder and CEO of Vesti. “Before an agent touches anything with real stakes, it should have a legal existence a court can recognize and a counterparty can verify.”
“Agents act, but legally they are no one,” said Abimbola Amusan, co-founder and COO of Vesti. “Identity is the structure a court can follow when copies multiply.”

In earlier funding rounds, Vesti was backed by Greg Kidd, an early investor in Twitter (now X), Square and Coinbase, through his firm Hard Yaka; Resilience17, the venture fund of Flutterwave founder GB Agboola; Techstars; and Microtraction.
